About this internship
1 About Power Flux AI
Power Flux AI is an AI-native power electronics engineering company headquartered in Pune, India. We design, simulate, prototype and productionize high-power motor and inverter systems, from 0.5 kW to 500 kW, on a proprietary AI-driven platform. It compresses traditional 1836 month development cycles into 90 days from concept to prototype.
We work with partners and institutions including IIT Bombay, IIT Madras and ARAI Pune, and our engineering is led by a founder with 35+ years of hands-on power electronics experience.
2 Your opportunity at IIT Madras Incubation, Chennai
Work with us at the IIT Madras Incubation ecosystem in Chennai, alongside our Power Electronics Lab at IIT Madras. You will apply textbook power electronics to real designs, mentored by engineers with decades of hands-on motor and inverter experience.
3 Role overview
You are the physical ground truth for our AI platform. You will write the sizing rules, constraints and simulation tests that make sure every AI-generated circuit is safe, stable and efficient.
4 What you will do
- Build automated sizing scripts for converter topologies such as LLC, Boost PFC and synchronous Buck/Boost.
- Model and test closed-loop controllers in SPICE.
- Create headless Ng spice test suites that check regulation, efficiency and power balance.
- Check that AI-generated schematics match KiCad netlists, with clean ERC/DRC.
- Write design-rule checks for IR drop, trace current capacity (IPC-2152), thermal limits and magnetic core saturation.
5 What you bring
Must have
- Solid grounding in SMPS and power electronics fundamentals
- Ability to read and edit SPICE netlists (Ng spice, LTspice or similar)
- Python with NumPy/SciPy for calculations
- A project that simulated or built a converter
Good to have
KiCad or Altium PCB experience, pytest, Git, control theory (Bode, phase margin), magnetics design, resonant converters (LLC, DAB, PSFB).
